Obituary

George W. Reykdal, 76, originally of Ashland, Wisconsin passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Kinnic Health and Rehab of River Falls, Wisconsin. He was born in Ashland, Wisconsin, to Norlin and Sarah (Notton) Reykdal. George attended DePadua High School, Ashland and graduated from Oconomowoc High School. He also attended Northland College and University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. George served in the United States Marine Corps (1972-1975). He was assigned to a journalist position and provided photography for a newspaper near Camp Pendleton, California. George was modest about his writing and art ability. As an observer he was extremely accomplished at both. He has published a book of poetry and prose entitled 'The Car Behind the Barn'. George will be remembered as a kind and giving person with a sense of humor appreciated by many. George's nieces and nephews will remember him as the fun and funny uncle. George was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin and Julia Reykdal, Monte and Cecelia Notton; parents, Norlin and Sarah Reykdal; nephew, Brian Reykdal; aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Reykdal and Notton families George is survived by his sister, Julia (Reykdal) Langworthy; nieces and nephews, Marty Reykdal, Tammy Reykdal, Heidi (Larry) Kontney, Tyler J. Trill, Scott Keneran, Sarah (Trevor) Bruce, Randy (Jaimie) Langworthy; great-nieces and nephews and many dear cousins. A special shout out to 'Frog' Fromholz for giving George his last laugh. Interment will be on a future date at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, Wisconsin.
