Obituary

GEORGE H. SCHEIT, 88, of 941 Leonard Dr., died Saturday, December 7, 1996 at the Center of Care. He was born April 22, 1908 in Lamar, Colorado to Albert and Emma (Ludtke) Scheit. George moved with his family to Allen,WI, as a child. He lived most of his life in Chippewa County. On August 17, 1948, George married Edith V. Pagenkopf in Eau Claire at Epiphany Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Town of Wheaton and he later worked as a mechanic 17 years for Morrison Implement until his retirement in 1973. George and Edith moved to Eau Claire in 1980. As woodworking craftsman, George had many projects which included building 46 grandfather clocks. He was very fond of working in his vegetable and flower gardens. He served as an Elder at Epiphany Lutheran Church for several years.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Edith; two daughters, Diane (Gary) Riese of Fall Creek and Connie Sackett of Appleton; two granddaughters, Keelynn (Jeff) Manor and Shawnda (Jamie) Kaeding both of Fall Creek; a grandson, Stephen Sackett of Appleton; a great-granddaughter, Karisa Manor of Fall Creek and a sister, Louise Hering of Eau Claire.\r\nGeorge was preceded in death by four brothers, Oscar, Carl, Eric and Conrad; two sisters, Gertrude Wangen and Hildegard Hagen.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Epiphany Lutheran Church with Pastor Frederick C. Sauder officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be directed to the Epiphany Lutheran Church Relocation Fund.
