Gerald "Jerry" R. Brown Jr., 75, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with his family by his side, following a short battle with cancer. He attended and was baptized at Washington Baptist Church.\r\nHe was born in Eau Claire on August 12, 1933, the son of Gerald R. and Gladys (Porter) Brown Sr. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1951. \r\nJerry married Janice V. Remington on October 24, 1953, in Eau Claire.\r\nHe worked for Indianhead Foods in various positions for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he worked for Badger Truck Refrigeration in assembly. In his spare time, Jerry also started and ran Brown's Sharpening Service. \r\nAmong his many hobbies were fishing, snowmobiling, working on his hobby farm, and meeting with his friends daily for morning coffee. Jerry always looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Canada with his friends and family. The greatest joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as the dad who could fix anything.\r\nJerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice; four daughters, Caroline (Todd) Kennedy of Menomonie, Cynthia Weir of Eau Claire, Robin (Gregory) Gynnild of Eau Claire, Rebecca (Timothy) Brunette of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Christopher&Cole Kennedy of Menomonie, John&Garrett Weir of Eau Claire, Kaitlyn & Ryan Gynnild of Eau Claire, and a granddaughter Brunette to be. He is further survived by a sister, Nancy Ann Flaskrud of Eau Claire; son-in-law, William Weir of Eau Claire; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Beverly Keeler and Kathryn Sloat. \r\nMemorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Kurt M. Jacobson officiating. Private burial will be held in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation be will from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.\r\nMemorials are preferred to the Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center at Sacred Heart Hospital, 900 W. Clairemont Ave. Eau Claire, WI 54701.\r\nThe family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Muslim and nurses, Katy, Danielle, Amy, and Nikki, and the entire caring team at Sacred Heart 2nd Floor.\r\n
