Obituary

Gerald Dennis "Gerry" King, 61, of Eau Claire passed away at home unexpectedly on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Gerry was born in Chippewa Falls on August 8, 1949, the son of William and Charlotte (Monte) King. He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1967. Gerry was employed at Uniroyal from 1969 until the plant closure in 1993. He then moved to Arizona for a year to become a trained Harley Davidson mechanic. Gerry was mechanically inclined, often ripping things down just to rebuild them better. He would often help his friends with motorcycle repairs, using his own parts that he "just happened to have laying around." Gerry is preceded in death by his parents, William and Charlotte King, and a brother, Anthony (Tony). Gerry is survived by a son, Corey (Jaime) of Milwaukee; and a daughter, Shannon (Jeffrey Kuhn) of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Miles, and Mitchell; brothers, Bill (Deb Dyke) of Plymouth, Tim (Lynette) of the Village of Lake Hallie and Richard (Arleen) of Eau Claire; sisters, Tina King of Eau Claire and Charlotte (Hank) Erickson of Altoona; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. He is further survived by his girlfriend, Robin Weigel, and many, many friends who were extremely close and personal to him and who will miss him greatly. A Time of Celebration and gathering of family, friends and colleagues is scheduled for Saturday, July 23, with visitation beginning at 12 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire. At 1 p.m., there will be a brief memorial service. Afterwards, there will be an informal gathering at Ray's Place, 838 Water Street, Eau Claire, one of Gerry's favorite destinations.
