Obituary

Gerald B. "Jerry" Lee, 89, of Elk Mound passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at his home. He was born in the Town of Spring Brook, Dunn Co. on January 12, 1924, the son of Basil and Tressie (Garnett) Lee. Jerry played the drums in marching band at Eau Claire High School and graduated with the Class of 1941. After working the home farm and going to Technical School, he served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1947. Jerry married Sylvia Krigsvold on April 5, 1946, at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Together they lived on the same farm for 67 years in Elk Mound, and enjoyed taking care of a 200 acre hobby farm until 2008. Jerry worked for a short time at Armour Meat in Eau Claire and at Bradey Foundry in Milwaukee for a year in 1951. He worked for 37 years at Uniroyal Tire Factory until his retirement in 1989. Jerry volunteered much of his time preparing perfect arenas for National and State High School Rodeo for 40+ years, being a 4-H leader for 55 years in more than 10 projects, caretaker for Wild Bill's Riders Saddle Club for 37 years, RCU volunteer for 25 years, Mended Hearts through Luther Hospital for 20 years, Mabel Tainter Theatre for 20 years, Eau Claire Regional Arts Center for 25 years, Sunday School Teacher and Head Usher for 43 years, lay speaker for Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound for 30 years, Luther League Advisor for 25 years and State 4-H Mechanical Science Organizer for 15 years. He also won the Chippewa County 4-H Salute Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award for Wisconsin State Horse Council and also the Lifetime Award as an RCU Volunteer. Gerald is survived by his wife, Sylvia; four children, Sharon Berg, Keith (Rita) Lee, Marie (Mark) Witzel, all of Elk Mound, and Diane Graham of Hamilton, TX; eight grandchildren, Lynn Muszynski, Kirsten Myers, Nate Lee, Dana Lee-Rye, Mickey Koser, Boofy Mishnick, Kathryn and Sara Witzel; and twelve great-grandchildren, Tyler Ebel, Joseph Muszynski, Dayne, Cole and Madison Myers, Creo, Amber, Lane, and Khloe Lee, Matteo Rye, and Toni and Brodi Mishnick. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott in 1975; his twin brother, Harold Lee; and sister, Carol Lee Herbrandt. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 14, 2013, at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 207 University St. in Elk Mound with Rev. John Hosmann and Dean Brockmeier officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 53. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound or the donor's favorite charity. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff with Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice and the Chippewa County A.D.R.C.
