Gerald D. "Jerry" Pagel, age 82, of Eau Claire, WI, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at his home near Eau Claire. Jerry was born October 20, 1932, in Reseburg, WI, to John and Katharine (Biddle) Pagel. He was a graduate of Thorp High Schjool and went on to join the U.S. Army and served two years. He married Nancy Linhart on June 30, 1956, in Chetek, WI, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Gerald loved his family very much and time with them was extremely important. He enjoyed his farm and taking his John Deere Gator out for rides checking the fence line. He loved animals and just loved being outside. Jerry had worked for Peters Meats for several years as a meat cutter, but worked the majority of his life working as a custodian for the Vocational School now known as CVTC. He is survived by seven children, Robert (Allegra Schafer) Pagel of Eau Claire, Catherine (Jeff) Slind of Rice Lake, WI, Pamela (Chris) Caple of Frederic, WI, Donald (Paula) Pagel of Mira Loma, CA, Lawrence (Lois) Pagel of Osseo, WI, Gerald Pagel of Pueblo West, CO, and Susan Pagel of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Shawn Slind, Lisa Beebe, Brian Stromback, Sarah Brenizer, Bobby Pagel, Samantha Wendt, Brady Wendt, Ashley Pagel, Hannah and Matthew Simonson; as well as by his great-grandchildren, Brandin, Alex, Lexi, Teegan, Kira and Emily; a close family friend, Bruce Clark of Pueblo West, CO; three brothers, Ronnie (Ellie) Pagel, Billy (Joni) Pagel and George (Carol) Pagel; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy in 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St. in Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Prayer Vigil at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire and again one hour prior to the Mass, Thursday, at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
