Gerald "Gus" W. Poeschel, 74, of Eau Claire, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. Gus was born on June 14, 1940, a son of William and Lucille (Koller) Poeschel. He grew up in the township of Lima, Durand, WI. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for a short time. He was an avid Packer fan and loved spending time with his friends, especially at Last Chance Bar. Gus married Marilyn Suitor in 1996. Gus is survived by his sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Feldt; two brothers, Jerome (Shirley) Poeschel and Duane (Pam) Poeschel; four step-sons, Robert (Gertrude) Basacker Jr., James Basacker, Anson Basacker and Matthew Basacker; four step-daughters, Peggy (Steve) Coach, Ary (Arlo) Luedtke, Yvonne (Sabino) Basacker, and Julie Houghton, TX; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and also many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; and his parents. A visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire. Burial will be at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery in Eau Claire.
