Obituary

Geraldine R. Garlie, 87, of Eau Claire died Monday, May 5, 2003 at Luther Hospital. She was born in Eau Claire on May 31, 1915 the daughter of Anton and Marie (Longseth) Randen.\r\nGeraldine married Harold O. Garlie in Eau Claire on March 7, 1942.\r\nShe was very active in her church with bible studies and quilting. Besides quilting, she did needlepoint and cross-stitch. She followed her children and grandchildren in all their activities. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and worked for the Scandinavian Institute and at the Scandinavian Gift Shop. She volunteered for many years at Luther Hospital.\r\nShe is survived by seven children, Thomas (Alice) Goetz of Mendota Heights, MN and children, Keith, David, Brian and Connie Goetz and Eric and Emily Larson; Karen (Wayne) Brandt of Crosslake, MN and their children, Thomas and Michael Brandt and Kelly Hoffman; Janet (Fred) Turk of Eau Claire and their children, Teresa Wieser and Joseph Turk; Richard (Jean) Garlie of Albuquerque, NM and their son, Collin; Mary Jo (Lance) Thiel of Eau Claire and their children, Angela Severson and Travis Thiel; Carrie (Harry) Hartman of Newport News, VA and their children, Lisa Pearson, Andy Hartman, Jennifer Huggins and Michael Hartman; and Nancy (Craig) Reinfeldt of Grafton, VA and their children, Marty and Courtney Reinfeldt and Gary Montz; thirty great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Elmer Heuer; and a sister-in-law, Kate Randen, both of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1985; two grandsons, John Turk and Dan Montz; three brothers, Obert, Marvin and LaVern Randen; and two sisters, Ida Rosenberg and Mayme Moore.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
