Obituary

Geraldine J. "Gerry" Ludwikoski left her gathered family and quietly slipped away from them to be greeted by her departed family and friends in God's Heavenly Kingdom on Monday, August 31, 2015. Gerry was born on March 29, 1919, in Eau Claire, WI, to Harry and Ruth (Farrell) Elliott. She attended St. Patrick's Grade School and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1937. She was a bookkeeper at National Furniture Store until her marriage to Richard "Dick" Ludwikoski in 1946. Dick preceded Gerry in death in 1995. Gerry was a volunteer at Sacred Heart Hospital, past member of Sacred Heart Hospital and Eau Claire Fire Department Auxiliaries and the Immaculata Ladies Society. Gerry and Dick loved to travel and during their retirement years spent winter months in Arizona, with best friends, Jean and Bob Langdon. They also enjoyed playing cards and taking an occasional trip to a casino. As a homemaker, Gerry was in her element. Her cooking and baking abilities were beyond compare. Thursday was baking day and an abundance of bread, rolls, cookies and pies filled her kitchen by evening, to be available for the week ahead. It was said she trapped dust before it hit her tables. Gerry loved her children, grandchildren and most especially, in later years, her great-grandchildren. She kept abreast of their activities daily. Blessed with an unfailing memory, she was always the family source for information, both past and present. It was often joked, if anyone in the family were ever to be on a game show and could "call a friend" for help with an answer, she would be the one getting the call. Gerry is survived by her son, Tom (Pat) Ludwikoski of Altoona; daughter, Jill (Terry) Halbleib of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Kim Ludwikoski, Kari (Dave) Decker, Rich (Brandy) Ludwikoski, Jeff (Megan) Halbleib, Jenny (Brian) Knepper and Kelly (Adam) Anderson; nine great-grandchildren, Jack "JT" and Lucas Postlewaite, Nicholas Ludwikoski, Mackenzie and Michael Decker, Walter and Clark Ludwikoski, Jaxson Anderson and Addison Knepper; brother, George Elliott; sister, Rosemary (Ray) Prissel; sisters-in-law, Florence Ludwikoski and Joann (Gerald) Creamer; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; son, Bruce; and brother, Jack Elliott. Her family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful assistance and care Gerry received from Dr. Nathaniel Jalil of Marshfield Clinic, the Dialysis Staff of Sacred Heart Hospital and the entire staff of Dove-Orchard Hills Assisted Living, where she was not only cared for but loved. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon, on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Ave. in Eau Claire, with Father Don Meuret officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass, Thursday at the church. Interment will follow the Mass at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services is serving her family. The family requests donations in Gerry's memory to be given to Immaculate Conception Church, to be used for the purchase of video equipment to assist home shut-ins.
