Geraldine "Gerry" L. Nelson, 81, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at The Clairemont. She was born on January 25, 1921 in Eau Claire the daughter of Nels and Olga (Engum) Wold. She grew up in Eau Claire graduating from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1938.\r\nGeraldine married Donald Rowe on September 5, 1942 in Boise, Idaho.Don was killed while serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.\r\nShe married William E. Nelson in Minneapolis on April 25, 1953 and they made their home in Eau Claire. Bill died in 1962.\r\nOver the years she enjoyed gathering together with her bridge and golfing buddies. Gerry's family and friends knew her for her strength and sense of humor. \r\nSurvivors include her three children, Scott Nelson of Kittredge, CO, Carole (Max) McCormack of San Diego, CA, and Nancy (Steve Cermak) Nelson of Colfax; two grandchildren, Todd McCormack of San Francisco, CA, and Holly (Tim) Anderson of San Diego, CA; a great-granddaughter, Delaney Grace Anderson, born on her great-grandmother's 81st birthday; and her two sisters, Noreen Flam and Delores "Bets" Gynnild of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Glenn (Elaine) Nelson of Spicer, MN; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was also preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Doris Krahn and Loretta Wold.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary L. Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran church.
