Geraldine "Gerry" Eleanore Werth, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from cancer. She was born on March 26, 1923 to Minnie (Alf) and Albert Faast in the Town of Pleasant Valley. Gerry graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School, class of 1941 after attending grade school in Cleghorn. After a pre-nursing course at Eau Claire Teachers College, she entered nurses training at Luther Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. The second year in training she joined the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps, graduating in 1945 as a Registered Nurse. She worked over 30 years at Luther Hospital, retiring in 1983. She was a Life Member of Luther Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and for 19 years after retiring worked as a volunteer at Luther Hospital. She was baptized and confirmed at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and is still a member there. On December 14, 1946 she married Bob Walsh, Jr. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, they later divorced. She is survived by one son, Thomas C. Walsh. Gerry married George C. Werth Sr. on July 15, 1967, he also survives her. Other survivors include two nieces, Joanne Roberts and Margaret Mead; one nephew, Robert O'Brien; several grandnieces, plus several great-grandnieces and nephews; one stepson; and two step-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Irene O'Brien and Esther Faast; and two nephews, Dorr O'Brien and Gerald O'Brien. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. The family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful and exceptional care they gave Geraldine.
