Geraldine Wolfarth, 85, died surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 3, 2010. Gerry was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 20, 1925 to Ellis Charles Thomas and Magdalin (Perbix) Thomas. Gerry married Donald Lloyd Wolfarth on August 12, 1950, in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Professionally, Gerry taught 5th grade, taught piano, was a social worker, and welcomed new residents to Eau Claire. She was also a dedicated volunteer with the Girl Scouts, at her church, at Luther Hospital, and with school children. At home, Gerry enjoyed raising her three children, painting, organizing craft projects, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada, singing, studying history and past U.S. presidents, and attending theatrical and music-centered performances. \r\nGerry was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James William Thomas, and her beloved husband Professor Donald Lloyd Wolfarth. \r\nGerry is survived by her son Michael Jon (Linda) Wolfarth of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and grandsons Jonathan Michael Wolfarth and Daniel Benjamin Wolfarth; daughter Jeanne Marie (Randall) Riese of Barnes, Wisconsin; daughter Diane Louise (James) Riggs of St. Paul, Minnesota and granddaughters Lauren Marie Riggs and Katherine Anne Riggs; as well as nieces and nephews.\r\nA memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, April 9th at the First Congregational United Church of Christ (3rd and Broadway in downtown Eau Claire) with Rev. Dr. Mark X. Pirazzini officiating.\r\nMemorial offerings may be made to the music program at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eau Claire.
