Obituary

GERHARD NORMAN HOLTE, 79, of N2511 960th St., Town of Spring Brook, Dunn County died Monday, August 16, 1999 as a result of a farm accident. He was born September 25, 1919 to Bert and Inga (Dragseth) Holte in the Town of Spring Brook. He was baptized and confirmed at Spring Brook Lutheran Church. Gerhard farmed in Spring Brook Township and then worked at Glen Martin in Baltimore for a year, prior to his service in the U.S. Army. He served with Company B, 6th Armored Battalion, in France, Belgium and Germany during WWII. After the war he returned home to farm.\r\nOn September 3, 1949, Gerhard married Gloria Dawn Johnson in Eau Claire. He served on the Spring Brook Town Board for over 20 years. He served on the School Boards for Fosbroke, Spring Brook and Elk Mound. He was a member of the American Legion Post #53 and the Sons of Norway. As an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Gerhard had served on the Board of Deacons.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Gloria; four children , Gene of the Town of Lucas, Dunn County, James (Gayle) of Spring Brook, Barbara Ann (Bruce) Gilbertsonof Lakeville, MN, and Mary Lynn (Robert) Strand of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Erin Holte, Peter, Susan, and John Gilbertson, and Erik Strand; a sister, Gladys (Duane) Talford of Rock Falls; and two sisters-in-law, Agnes Holte of Eau Claire and Minnie Johnson of Streamwood, IL.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, John, twins Harry and Oscar, and Arnold.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd with Pastors John E. Hosmann and Paul D.L. Oppedahl officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Foundation Fund.
