Gertrude "Gert" Menard, 88, of Heritage Assisted Living at 3706 Damon St., went to rest in the arms of her Savior on October 11, 2011. She was born on November 13, 1922, in Bloomer, WI, to Henry and Clara (Gunderman) Aubert. She graduated with the Class of 1940, from St. Patrick's High School. She married Charles "Ed" Menard on June 5, 1941. Gert made a career of raising and caring for her beloved family. Nothing made her prouder and happier than spending time with and caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gert was a charter member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church. She was a member of the Rosary Confraternity, and was actively involved in many Parish activities over the years. She was a 4-H leader, Triniteam volunteer, delivered Meals on Wheels, and served as a volunteer at Dove Healthcare and the Clairemont. Among the many charities she supported, her two favorites were Boys Town and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. She was an active member of Moose Lodge # 1408. Gert is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Bob Krumenauer) Menard of Eau Claire and Mary (Norm) Paulsrud of Gilbert, AZ; four sons, Gary (Patricia A.) Menard, Mike (Bob Gappa) Menard, Jeff (Linda) Menard, and Patrick (Susan) Menard, all of Eau Claire; 15 grandchildren, Tim (Angie) Krumenauer, Todd (Jana) Krumenauer, Terry (Melissa) Krumenauer, Jonathan (Theresa Luhm) Menard, Heather (Alan Hill) Menard, Amber (Rob) Ridenour, Kayla Menard, Brad (Teresa) Paulsrud, Travis (Michelle) Paulsrud, Leah (Scott) Bicknell, Nicole (Mike) O'Brien, Travis Kummer-Menard, Lawton Menard, Rigel Menard, and Christopher Kummer-Menard; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and "love of her life", Ed; her parents; and two brothers, Joe and Lawrence Aubert. The family would like to extend a special note of appreciation to the staff at Heritage Assisted Living for the kindness, love and compassion which they showed to Mom during her time there. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to St. Joseph's Hospice for their wonderful support during Mom's last weeks at Heritage. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., in Eau Claire with Father William A. Dhein officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., with a Public Prayer Vigil beginning at 7 p.m., and also one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
