Gina A. Rust Blang, 97, formerly of 851 University Dr., Eau Claire, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at Syverson Lutheran Home. She was born on January 24, 1905 a daughter of Nels and Dortha (Monson) Arne in West Bank Township, Swift County near Benson, Minnesota, \r\nShe was raised in Benson, completing high school there. She moved to Eau Claire where she enrolled at Hunts Business College. Following graduation, she was employed as a secretary at an insurance company. \r\nShe married Owen "Odie" Rust, in November 1930 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. They first lived in Eau Claire before moving to Superior where she worked at a law firm as a legal secretary, and for the Superior Wisconsin Housing Authority. Following retirement they returned to Eau Claire in 1971. Odie Rust died in 1977. \r\nGina was united in marriage to Edward Blang on December 20, 1981 in Eau Claire. Edward died in 1991.\r\nSurvivors include her stepdaughter, Barbara (James) Ammentorp of Freeport Illinois; many nieces and nephews, including nephew, Richard (Mary Lou) Arne of Willmar, Minn.; and special friend, Margaret Sconzert of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and five brothers. \r\nGina is remembered by family and friends for her devotion to Grace Lutheran Church and her many friends there. She sang in the church choir was active on several committees. She was a loving person with an ever-radiant smile and a good sense of humor.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2002 at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel with Pastor Andrew Boe officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to services Monday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.
