Gladys L. Champion, 91, formerly of Eau Claire, died Thursday, November 8, 2001 at Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. She was born in Eau Claire on March 27, 1910 to Ernest and Sarah "Etta" (Baker) Kruger. Gladys married John R. Champion on March 12, 1932 at Truax Congregational Church in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was a member of Truax Congregational United Church of Christ since 1934 where she had been active in the Truax Women's Fellowship and served on various committees. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors.\r\nSurvivors include her daughter, Audrey (John) Wisemiller of Eau Claire; son, Dennis (Carol) Champion of Menomonie; daughter-in-law, Gail Champion of Menomonie; eleven grandchildren, Lori, Linda, Shelly, Rhonda, Kim, Kendra, Cindy, Tony, Susan, Peggy, and Pam; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1987; two sons, Richard and Darrel; her parents; a brother, Galen Kruger; and two sisters, Wilma Swartz and Laura Ganong. \r\nHer family extends special thanks to Brenda, Chris, Chuck, Dawn, Janet, Jean, and Sharon at Dunn County Health Care Center for their kindness caring for their mother.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2001 at Truax Congregational United Church of Christ, with Pastor Sandee D. Kosmo officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
