Obituary

Gladys E. (Gynnild) Erickson, 80, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Dove Healthcare. She was born in Eau Claire on December 18, 1924, the daughter of Ole and Ida (Froseth) Gynnild. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1942.\r\nGladys married Harold J. Erickson on November 25, 1945 at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. After their marriage they resided in Minneapolis, LaCrosse and Wausau. \r\nShe worked as a sales manager in the dress department of Prange's for eighteen years until her retirement in 1988. Gladys was an active volunteer throughout her life.\r\nGladys is survived by her husband, Harold; their four children, Kathleen (Michael) Schremp of Eau Claire and their four children, Erik, Kaitlyn, Kaia and Kjersti Schremp, David (Becky) Erickson of Gypsum, CO, and their two children, Tracy and Jonathan Erickson, Kristine (Steven) Hayden of Eau Claire and their two children, Grant and Kittrick Hayden, and Kerrie Erickson of Eau Claire and her three children Skyler and McKenna Gunderson, and Xavier Schick; a sister-in-law, Marlys "Dolly" Gynnild of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Dick Toycen of Colfax; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\r\nGladys loved her Norwegian heritage and also leaves behind many beloved cousins in Norway.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Mark Erickson; two brothers, Lawrence and Orville Gynnild; and two sisters-in-law, Delores "Bets" Gynnild and Ona Toycen.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 10:30 a.m Friday, March 25, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary L. Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be in Upper Running Valley Lutheran Cemetery near Colfax at a later date. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
