Gladys L. Holmen, 92, of Eau Claire went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.\r\nGladys was born on January 11, 1917, at the family farm home in the Town of Union, Eau Claire County to John H. and Alice E. (Rossow) Mayo. She grew up on the farm enjoying many happy days with family, friends, and neighbors.\r\nGladys married James W. Miley in 1938 in Eau Claire, where they lived until his death in 1949. They were blessed with two daughters, Audrey Jean and Carol Ann. After his death she was employed by the Hatch's at Oak Park Dairy where she worked in the office for several years.\r\nIn 1952, Gladys married Richard B. Holmen on March 25, 1952, in Nashua, IA. They were blessed with one daughter, Cynthia Kay. \r\nGladys was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church involved with teaching Sunday School and other ways of serving. Later she enjoyed leading bible classes in her home, homes of friends, and at church for over 20 years. These friends shared many enjoyable times together.\r\nGladys loved keeping her home and caring for her family. She did a lot of sewing for her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting, growing flowers, houseplants, reading good books, and most of all, studying her bible. \r\nGladys is survived by her husband, Richard; two daughters, Carol (Dick) Davis of Baraboo, WI, and Cynthia (David) Schone of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Jenell) Simons, Kurt (Susan) Simons, Jonathan (Melody) Davis, Janey (Matthew) Hundley, Julie (David) DeNoyer, Janelle (Jonathan) Langford, and Joy (Andrew) Adams; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Muriel Custer of Bloomer, WI, and Marian (Dale) Krammes of Eau Claire; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; daughter Audrey; two sisters, Lillian and Phyllis; and two brothers, William and Harold.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church in Eau Claire with Pastor John Van Gorkom officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services, Friday, at the church.\r\n
