Obituary

Gladys Market, 91, of Eau Claire died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Luther Hospital. She was born in the Town of Springbrook, Dunn County, Wisconsin on March 29, 1914, the daughter of Oliver and Gertie (Bendickson) Wagnild.\r\nGladys married Philip L. Market in Caryville, Wisconsin on March 21, 1936. \r\nShe was a homemaker, working only for a brief time at the Favorite Confection Candy Co. on Water Street. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.\r\nGladys loved flowers, working in her yard, and feeding the birds. She like animals and always enjoyed a visit from Ubu, her favorite chocolate lab. \r\nSurvivors include her daughter, Linda (Victor) Wekkin of Barnes; two grandsons, Jon Wekkin of Hudson and Todd (Molly) Wekkin of Eau Claire; great grandson, Brandon; sister, Inez Jenson of Elk Mound; sister-in-law, Peg Market of Eau Claire; and many special nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband Philip in 1990; sister, Beatrice Nelson; brother, Orris Wagnild; two sister-in-laws, Margaret Holte and Adella Wagnild; and three brother-in-laws, Wilmer Jenson, Norman Nelson, and Juel Market.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54703.\r\n
