Obituary

Gladys I. Olson, 87, of Eau Claire and formerly of Ettrick, WI, died on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center in Fall Creek.\r\nShe was born on the family farm in Fountain Township, Juneau County near Elroy, WI on June 7, 1922, a daughter of Louis and Helen (Lee) Temte. Gladys was baptized and confirmed at East Lemonweir Lutheran Church near Elroy, WI.\r\nShe graduated from New Lisbon High School with the class of 1939, and then attended Juneau County Normal School for Rural Teaching, graduating in 1941.\r\nGladys married Arnold M. Olson at East Lemonweir Lutheran Church on March 15, 1947. They moved to Ettrick in 1949, where they were members of Living Hope Lutheran Church. \r\nGladys and Arnold farmed in Ettrick Township until 1971, and continued to live in rural Ettrick until moving to Eau Claire in 1996. \r\nShe was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nHer passion was her family and her faith, and her door was always open to welcome neighbors and friends. Gladys enjoyed many years working in her gardens, and wintering with Arnold in Arizona and Texas.\r\nHer final years were spent at Grace Edgewood Assisted Living and Fall Creek Valley Care Center where her loving spirit endeared her to staff and residents \r\nGladys is survived by her four children, Gail (Darrell) Solberg of Chippewa Falls, Ferne Brewster of Lanesboro, MN, Dean (Susan) Olson of Eau Claire and Arden (Clarice) Olson of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Laura (John) Sadler, David (Rebecca) Solberg, Aaron and Zachary Brewster, and Michelle and Molly Olson; three great grandchildren, Andrew, Gabe and Amelia Solberg; sister-in-law, Eileen Temte of La Crosse; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold in 2003; her parents; two brothers, Dell and Arnold Temte; and her sister, Edna Johnson.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010, at Hope Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Omar Nelson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Ettrick Public Cemetery in Ettrick Township. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
