GLADYS M. STEUBING, 85, of 244 Lake Street, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at her home. She was born on February 18, 1914 in Bayfield County, near Mason, Wisconsin to Herbert and Helen (Skalsky) Brown and grew up in Iron River, WI. Gladys married Walter C. Steubing of Eau Claire on October 20, 1932 and they resided in Eau Claire since the early 1940's. She was the owner-manager of apartments at 244 Lake Street and 709 Third Ave.\r\nGladys was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 18 years where she had organized and managed the Friendship Club tours. The Friendship Club and its members were a great part of her life, she enjoyed the trips and times they had spent together tremendously.\r\nSurvivors include a daughter, Karen Lee (Bruce) Remington of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Teresa, David, and Jessica Remington, all of Eau Claire and Pamela (Dennis) Coombs of Minneapolis; two great-grandchildren, Katie Remington of Eau Claire and Stephanie Coombs of Minneapolis; two sisters, Rachel Robbins of Spokane,WA, and Francis Mageske of Green Valley, AZ.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1970; four sisters and six brothers.\r\nMemorial graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Cemetery with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family. \r\n
