Obituary

Gladys H. Turney, 89, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Luther Hospital. She was born in Lincoln Township near Fall Creek, Wisconsin on February 16, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Zich) Kaeding. She graduated from Fall Creek High School with the class of 1936.\r\nGladys married Jerome B. Turney in Fall Creek on July 22, 1939.\r\nShe was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire where her activities included working with the church clothing bank, women's bible study, and ladies circle. Gladys was a volunteer with Triniteam, and Meals on Wheels. She had served 14 years as secretary for the Uniroyal Retirees. Gladys also was an officer with the Pythian Sister Fraternity and was a chairperson for Moose Lodge #1408.\r\nGladys was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who loved her family very much. She enjoyed baking, dancing, playing cards. Gladys was very proud of her German prayers and heritage. She will be missed dearly by her family.\r\nGladys is survived by her husband, Jerome; daughter, Kathy (LaVerne) Schellfeffer of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Holly (Paul) Nelson of Eleva, Mark (Sue) Schellfeffer of Eau Claire, Todd (Michelle) Forcier of Wisconsin Rapids, Michael Schellfeffer of Elkhorn, Troy (Amy) Forcier of Hudson, and Amy (Rick) Pabst of Chippewa Falls; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris R. Dewitz of Eau Claire and Phyllis L. Horlacher of Strum; son-in-law, Daniel Forcier of Osseo; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Maxine Forcier; and a grandson, James Schellfeffer; brothers, Gerhardt and George Kaeding; sisters, Dahlia Peterson and Irene Kaeding; a nephew, Arvid Kaeding; three brothers-in-law, Marvin Dewitz, Henry Horlacher, and John Peterson; and sister-in-law, Mable Kaeding.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland Ave. Eau Claire, with Pastor Karen M. Hofstad officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
