Obituary

Glen F. Rylander, 84, of 600 Graham Avenue passed away on Friday, January 14, 2000 at the Clairemont Nursing Home.\r\nGlen was born May 15, 1915 in Roosevelt Township, near Shell Lake, Burnett County, Wisconsin to Carl Edwin and Mabel Anderson Rylander. He married Marjory A. Birge on June 18, 1949 in Eau Claire. Glen served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Eau Claire Book&Stationery Company from 1946 until he retired as vice president and general manager in 1981. After retirement, Glen was a volunteer with the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).\r\nGlen was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Eau Claire, having served on the church board and as congregation president, the Eau Claire Lions Club and various other civic and volunteer organizations. He was very active in the Masons, joining the Shell Lake Masonic Lodge in 1945 and was a charter member of the George B. Wheeler Masonic Lodge No. 351 in Eau Claire. Glen joined the Scottish Rite in the fall class of 1947 and received the Scottish Rite Meritorious Service Award in 1972. He was active in the Mehara Shrine Club, having served as club secretary and finance chairman for the Mehara Shrine Circus for many years. Glen was a member of the Eau Claire Chapter No. 126 of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the Low 12 Club of Eau Claire. Glen was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #305, American Legion Post #53, and D.A.V. Chapter 10.\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Marjory, of Eau Claire; daughter, Beth (John) DeRosier of Eau Claire; son, Gary of Chicago; brothers, Lawrence (Dorothy) of Barronett and Edwin "Bud" of Cumberland; sister, Mae (Harlan) Vehrs of New Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery where V.F.W. Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church. There will be a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dialysis Unit at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.\r\n
