Glenn A. Niemuth, 79, of Altoona, formerly of Stetsonville and Hazelhurst, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011, of cancer. \r\n\r\nGlenn was born on March 26, 1932, to Herman and Helen (Tindula) Niemuth in Deer Creek, WI. He attended Victory School in Deer Creek and worked in the Stetsonville farming community. Glenn married Ellen Marks on August 28, 1953, in Medford. Glenn was a member of the United Methodist Church of Medford, the Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post 519, volunteer fire department and the Commercial Club. He was Village Board President and a former director of the Farmer State Bank. He was instrumental in the construction of the library, fire hall, Legion Hall and the Centennial Hall. He was also one of the developers of the Crestview addition to the village. He owned and operated Niemuth Implement Company until his retirement in 1997. The business is still in operation today. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends and farm customers. Glenn enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and extended family, as well as traveling and camping. \r\nGlenn is survived by his wife Ellen of Altoona; his children Gregory (Claudia) Niemuth of Eau Claire, Michele Stellick of Eau Claire, Neal (Leanne) Niemuth of Bismarck, ND, and Jennie (Vic) Saeger of Minocqua; six grandchildren, Matthew, Emily and Tom Stellick, Maria and Camille Niemuth, and Benjamin Roy Glenn Niemuth; sisters, Rachel (Henry) Weiler of Marshfield, Marcella Vlach of Temple Terrace, FL, Mabel Habermeyer of Fairchild, Elaine Fritsche of Dorchester, Beatrice (Art) Ludwig of Medford, Ruth (Ernest) Arndt of Medford, Vivian (Henry) Hentges of St. Charles, MN; one brother, Marvin Niemuth of Stetsonville; brothers-in-law, George Marks and Steve Marks; sister-in-law, Jane Fastle; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vernon and brother, Melvin in infancy; and one sister, Pearl Renelt. Funeral Services for Glenn will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the United Methodist Church of Medford, with the Reverend Dr. Michael Adedokun and Reverend Gary Cole officiating. Family and friends are invited for an hour of fellowship following the service at church. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery 2, rural Medford.
