Obituary

GLENN FRANKLIN SAUER, 1930 Cleveland Street, formerly of 435 W. Grand Ave., passed away Tuesday, January 28, 1997 at Luther Hospital. Glenn was born in Eau Claire to Frank and Julia (Peterson) Sauer on October 7, 1914. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1932. Following high school, Glenn worked at the U.S. Rubber Co. and Kelly's Smoke Shop.He served his country from 1941 to 1946 as a medic in the 135th Regiment, U.S. Army, stationed in the South Pacific Theatre. Returning home he secured a position with the U.S. Railway Postal Service where in the early years he served as a mail clerk on the St. Paul-Chicago train run. Glenn retired in 1974 from the Eau Claire Post Office after 26 years of service. He was a life long member of First Lutheran Church. Glenn was a care giver to several close family relatives.\r\nSurvivors include a sister, Lucille (Raymond) Quick, Eau Claire; nieces, Janet Sellers,Wauwatosa, Karen(David)Gustafson,Manhattan,KS, Susan(Russ)Kaul, Gail(Roland)Larson both of Eau Claire; nephews, Warren(Cec)Hoff and Richard Quick both of Eau Claire and Roger(Rebecca)Quick,Mendota Heights,MN; 15 great nieces and nephews; 4 great-great nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Sybil(Loren)Schelley of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Sauer, Bernice Sauer and Edna Hoff; and two brothers, Jerome and Marshall "Bud" Sauer.\r\nGlen will always be remembered for his wit, humor, and love of football and baseball.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Friday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert E. Esse officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the Church.
