Obituary

Glenn A. Storberg, 88, of Eau Claire, joined the love his life, Tena Mae, in Heaven on November 9, 2011, after a brief illness. Glenn was born on September 13, 1923, to Clara (Knudtson) and Arved Storberg in Chimney Rock, WI. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School, and soon after, at 19 years old, joined the Army to serve in WWII. He served in France, Germany, Belgium, and Austria. When his 782nd Tank Battalion arrived by ship, it immediately boarded an Allied troop train at LaHavre, France. So pressing was the need for troops and supplies in January 1945 that the European Theater of Operations demanded that troop trains move as quickly as possible. Unfortunately for Troop Train 2980, this led to a tragic accident at St. Valery, France, which cost 89 GI's their lives. Glenn was the sole survivor of his tanker unit when the train crashed through a train station at St. Valery. While on military leave, Glenn married Tena Mae Phephles Kluge on July 22nd, 1945. After his honorable discharge, Glenn was employed by UniRoyal until his retirement. He has been a lifetime member of VFW Post #305. Glenn was a man of integrity who believed in standing by his word and obligations. He very much enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors until his health prevented him from enjoying these activities. He also was an avid Packer fan, a loving husband and a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with a great sense of humor. Glenn was a proud Norwegian and always quipped, "It is quite a handicap to be Norwegian!" Dad, your children know that you and Mom are dancing together in Heaven! Glenn is survived by four children, Bonnie (Jack) Quall of Eau Claire, Brenda (Charlie) Harvey of Union, KY, Barb (Tom) Dickert of Dillsburg, PA, and Brian (Cindy) Storberg of Hudson; five grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Winter of Eau Claire, Brad (Sheila) Quall of Chippewa Falls, Scott (Amanda) Harvey of Slidell, LA, Sonja (David) Nelson of Union, KY, and Dan Dickert, Dillsburg of PA; 13 great-grandchildren, Nate, Noah, Maylayna, and Matteah Winter, Justin Quall, Jordan, Peyton, Austin, Kaden, Ethan, and Mason Harvey, and Mick and Samantha Nelson; and many other relatives who were dear to him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tena Mae; two sons, Bart and Bradley Storberg; his parents, Arved and Clara Storberg; two sisters, Ruby Tollefson and Pearl Prynch; and two brothers, Howard and Frank Storberg. Funeral Services for Glenn will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, with Pastor Randy Olson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011, at the funeral home, and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Northside Lutheran Church Cemetery, Omaha Street, in Eau Claire. Glenn's family would like to thank Pastor Randy Olson for his guidance and support, Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire staff for their care of our father, and all our friends and relatives for their prayers and concern.
