Gloria D. Holte, 89, of Elk Mound, WI, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire, WI. Gloria was born in Eau Claire on June 18, 1926, to Ludvig and Vina (Henry) Johnson. She grew up in the Eau Claire area, graduating from Eau Claire Senior High with the class of 1944. She worked at Camp McCoy, Brown Publishing, and Gillette's (later called Uniroyal). Gloria met Gerhard N. Holte of Elk Mound and they were married at North Presbyterian Church in Eau Claire on September 3, 1949. They farmed in the Town of Spring Brook, Dunn County, where they raised four children. Gloria was involved with the W/ELCA at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, served as a 4-H leader, was a member of the Sons of Norway, and a member of the Genealogical Research Society of Eau Claire. Gloria is survived by her four children: Gene (Patty Malloy) of Menomonie; James (Gayle) of Elk Mound; Barbara (Bruce) Gilbertson of Velva, ND; and Mary (Rob) Strand of Elk Mound; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Adam) Birkholz and Erin (Josh) Holzbauer; Peter, Susan (Chris) Rajamoney, and John Gilbertson; and Erik and Jared Strand; and four great-grandchildren: Evan, Hailey, and Ryan Birkholz; and Lucy Holzbauer. She is further survived by sister-in-law Agnes Holte; brother-in-law Duane Talford; three nieces; six nephews; and cousin, Mavis Rathjen, of Osseo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard, in 1999; brother, Donald, in 1997; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar Street, Eau Claire, WI, with Pastor Mike Wollman officiating. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home WEST Chapel at 1405 N Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, WI and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery following the funeral service.
