Gloria M. Kirby, 89, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, January 24, 2015, at her residence. Gloria was born in Oilton, OK, on May 9, 1925, a daughter of Carl and Levita (Wolfe) Nicholson. Gloria married Francis H. Kirby on October 11, 1951, in St. Paul, MN. Gloria worked as a florist for Mays Floral and Flowerland, before opening her own business, Gloria's Flowers. Gloria was a member of Sweet Adeline for 40 years, serving as President, Vice President, and Chairwoman of many committees and member of many quartets. Gloria received many awards for her paintings while she was a member of the Wisconsin Rural Artist Association. She was also a member of Eau Claire Garden Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Choir for many years. Gloria loved art, singing and gardening. She passed on her love and talent for gardening to quite a few of her children. Gloria is survived by her four sons, Gregory of Eau Claire, Daniel (Wendy) of Grand Junction, CO, David (Tamara) of Eau Claire, and Michael of Eau Claire; two daughters, Mary Kirby (Craig Griswold) of Penn Valley, CA, and Angela (Donald) Morton of Hillsboro, OR; fourteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; daughter, Patricia; parents; and a sister, Signora Corbett. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 416 Dewey St. in Eau Claire with Father George Thayilkuzhithotto officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the WEST CHAPEL of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the time of the Mass at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire.
