GORDON N. PETERSON, 86, 3351 Westhaven Ct., beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away Thursday, August 27, 1998 at Dove Health Care Center. He was born June 23, 1912 in Eleva to Julius and Adelaide ( Ness) Peterson. Gordon married Mary "Linda" Andrews on July 12, 1941 in Toledo, OH. Gordon had a successful career in the construction business in Garnavillo, IA for 30 years, and was especially proud of the Effigy Mounds National Monument that he built in Marquette, IA. Following his retirement in 1977, they moved to Springdale, Arkansas where they lived for seventeen years. In 1993 they returned to Eau Claire.\r\nHe was a member of the Masonic Lodge #90 in Garnavillo, IA, and later transferred to Elkader, IA Lodge. Gordon was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo.\r\nSurvivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Linda; a sister, Lucille Forcier of Eau Claire; a sister-in-law, Ruby Peterson of Garnavillo, IA; two nieces; six nephews; thirteen grand-nieces and grand-nephews; eight great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; two godsons, Michael Geuder of Guttenberg, IA, and Troy Forcier of Hudson; and many who knew Gordon as a dear friend.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hensel, Milton, and Dennis; and two sisters, Iona Peterson and Lorraine Mueller.\r\nIn life, Gordon enjoyed family, friends, hunting, and fishing. He is now in God's hands.\r\nFuneral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Chaplain Toby Ellison officiating. Burial will be in Osseo Cemetery, in Sumner Township. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Monday. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
