Gordon K. "Gordie" Roholt, 94, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls, WI. He was born on September 27, 1923, in Minneapolis, MN, to Lars and Helene (Knutson) Roholt, one of 14 children. He attended elementary school there and later moved to Alpena, MI and graduated from high school in 1942. He joined the Army Air Corps and served in the European theater as a crew chief on a C47 troop carrier until he was honorably discharged in 1945. On June 26, 1948, Gordie married Jane Tasker at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He worked for his father at Roholt's Grocery in Eau Claire, and later purchased the store and operated it for several years. He then worked at various sales jobs, the most recent for Lifetime Memorials in Eau Claire. Gordie loved all sports, especially fishing and golf. He was an honorary member of the Eau Claire Male Chorus, where he sang for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jane; 4 children, Steve (Sue) Roholt, Dave (Karen) Roholt, Gary (Debra) Roholt, and Judy (Mick) Kjelstad; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Lukis, Lori Roholt (David Yorde), Jonathan (Stacy) Kjelstad, Teri (Chris) DeClercq, Meredith (Andrew) Shaffer, Taylor Roholt, Kevin Roholt, and Kelby Roholt; eight great-grandchildren, Mirah, Daniel, and Gwen Lukis, Ila and Dean Yorde, Will and Paige Shaffer, and Evan DeClercq; one brother, Lloyd Roholt; one sister, Ruth Smiley; one sister-in-law, Betty Tasker; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael Roholt; 11 siblings; and one brother-in-law, Bruce Tasker. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home for the wonderful care they provided for Gordie. Memorial services will be held at 11am, on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the WEST CHAPEL, of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. Eau Claire, with Rev. David Irgens officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.
