Harland Dascher, 85, of Eau Claire, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Country Terrace Assisted Living. He was born May 10, 1919, in Eau Claire, the son of Michael and Clara (Yeager) Dascher. \r\nHarland married the love of his life, Viola Segerstom, at the Pentecostal Church on December 2, 1939, in Eau Claire. He served in Germany for the U.S. Army from July, 1944 to April, 1946 during World War II.\r\nAfter the war, Harland opened the Gold Ribbon Restaurant in 1949 which later became the Hi Dine in 1967. From 1972 to 1976 he ran Dash's Hi Dine. From 1976 to 1980 he ran the Westerner Restaurant. He worked at Uniroyal as a tire builder. Harland enjoyed collecting model cars. He was faithful to his church and his family.\r\nSurvivors include his wife of 65 years, Viola; three sons, Harland, Jr. of Machesney Park, IL, Jarrette of Eau Claire, and Albin (Terri) of Eau Claire; daughter, Sharran (Richard) Balts of Eau Claire; twelve grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Dawn Balts; three brothers, Doyle, Lamoine, and Albury "Sonny;" and one sister, Valerie Melhus.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Apostolic Faith Church with Rev. Adam Mundinac officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military rites. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
