Obituary

Harland (Hank) C. Hanson, age 90, formerly of Homewood, Illinois, died on Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Winchester House in Libertyville, Illinois. He was born on February 10, 1914 in Racine, Wisconsin to Henry Bernard and Mabel Helen Hanson. He graduated from Chetek Wisconsin High School. Hank married Marion Caroline Stahlbusch on April 24, 1938 in Chicago. \r\nDuring World War II (1943-46) he served in the Air Corps Air Transport Command as S/Sgt. in Australia, Philippines and other Pacific bases. Hank began his working career with Walgreen's while attending night school to become a CPA. Later he built an extensive CPA practice. In his later years he reduced his CPA practice to tax accounting for his favorite clients.\r\nHank played the piano which was enjoyed many times by his family, but he loved the drums best. He played in three bands during his lifetime. When his wife, Marion, died on June 11, 1983 he was devastated. A few years later he met a lovely woman, Sylvia Dovolio who brought back the joy to his life. Sylvia became his dear friend and world traveling partner. Except for the last few years of his life, Hank enjoyed an active retirement taking cruises and traveling the world.\r\nHanson is survived by his brother-in-law, Harold R. Stahlbusch of Colfax, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Eleanor E. Tippet of Frederick, Maryland and by 13 nieces and nephews who make their homes from coast to coast.\r\nGraveside committal services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2004, at Waneka Cemetery in the town of Spring Brook, Dunn County, with Pastor Dean C. Brockmeier officiating. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.
