Obituary

Harland L. Luren, 81, of Eau Claire died, January 21, 2004 at his home. He was born in Decorah, Iowa on March 7, 1922, the son of Lloyd and Cora (Lewis) Luren. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1942.\r\nHarland married Jessie A. Julson on October 4, 1947 in Eau Claire.\r\nHe served his country as a U.S. Marine during World War II. He was recalled during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1951.\r\nHarland was employed at Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Eau Claire, then at Hovland Sheet Metal. He retired from First Wisconsin National Bank in 1987.\r\nHe was a member of First Lutheran Church and a life member of VFW Post #7232.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Jessie; two daughters, Mary (Ora) Dommer-Little of Mondovi and Nancy (Randy) Pidgeon-Sambolt of Hudson; four grandchildren, Tony Dommer and Tina Dommer, James Pidgeon and Laura Pidgeon; three sisters, Vivian Larson of Eau Claire, Marlyn King of Eleva and Lorna (Francis) Holmes of Wisconsin Rapids; sister-in-law, Mable Bielefeldt of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHarland was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004 at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in East Bennett Valley Cemetery, Town of Chimney Rock, Trempealeau County where VFW Post #305 will perform military graveside rites. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
