Obituary

Harold G. Erickson, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife by his side. Harold was born on July 4, 1922, in Clear River, Minnesota, a son of John and Hilda (Peterson) Erickson.\r\nHe served in the United States Air Force from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946.\r\nHarold married Madelyn Rixman on August 10, 1946 in Winter, Wisconsin.\r\nHarold owned a print shop in Ojibwa and a Montgomery Wards store in Ladysmith. He was a driver license examiner for the Department of Transportation, and later became a supervisor and then an administrator, retiring after 33 years of state service.\r\nHe enjoyed camping, traveling and all outdoor activities. Harold had a dry sense of humor, and was a man of many talents, as he could fix or build anything. He lived for his family and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the kind of man every son would want to become. \r\nHarold is survived by his wife, Madelyn of 64 years; two sons, Douglas (Donna) and Bradley (Pamela); four grandchildren, Kristina (Mark) Carlson, Keith, Kelly, and Tanner; two great-grandchildren, Brook and Ben Carlson; two sisters, Helga Brackeen and Gladys Sward; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Everett; and a sister, Julia.\r\nA memorial service will be held Wednesday November 3, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1310 Main Street, Eau Claire, at 11 o'clock with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
