HAROLD J. HOFFE, 92, of 2003 Altoona Ave, Eau Claire, died Saturday, October 23, 1999 at Syverson Lutheran Home. He was born on December 10, 1906 in Osseo, Wisconsin to Theodore and Ellen (Johnson) Hoff. He graduated from Osseo Lincoln High School in 1924 and attended Smeby School of display in Minneapolis. He was display manager for Kepler Dept. store for several years.\r\nHarold married Adeline E. Pahl on August 25, 1930 in Arcadia, WI. In 1950 they started the Country China House, retiring in 1975.\r\nHe was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was active in Church Council, Keenagers and Men's Club. He was a charter member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Noon Lions Club, Luther Hospital Samaritan Club and had been historian for the Morning Optimists Club since 1968. He was a volunteer at Oakwood Villa and Syverson Lutheran Home.\r\nSurvivors include a daughter, Donna (Eric) Gilbertson; son, David (Mary) Hoffe; both of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Amy (Neal) Beidleman of Aspen,CO, Jay Gilbertson of Mpls.,MN, Kurt Gilbertson of Petaluma, CA, Jason Hoffe of Milwaukee and Ryan Hoffe of Eau Claire; a great granddaughter, Nina Ann Beidleman of Aspen, CO; three sisters, Esther (Louis) Christianson of Strum, Thelma (Carl) Phillips of Eau Claire and Irma (Wally) Pederson of Osseo; eleven nieces and nephews; and his "special friend" Laverne Fleming of Eau Claire. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Adeline, who died in 1987.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the town of Washington. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\nHis family requests that memorials be directed to First Lutheran Church, Luther Hospital or the donor's choice.
