Harold J. Peterson, Jr., 78, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2015, in hospice care at the Amery Behavioral Health Medical Center in Amery, WI. He was born on December 3, 1936, to the late Harold Sr. and Helen (Hoff) Peterson in Osseo, WI. Harry graduated from Lincoln Hill High School in Osseo, WI in 1954, and shortly after joined the U.S. Army, Battery D-62nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Platoon. He was stationed at Fort Sheridan IL, served overseas for two years during the Korean War and then continued in the reserves through October 1962. On September 5, 1975, he married Nancy E. Strandt in Ladysmith, WI. Harry worked as a Real Estate and Right of Way Agent for Northern States Power Company and a Tax Advisor for H&R Block until his retirement in 1993. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed playing golf, singing with his brother Eldie while playing the guitar to old country music and loved spending time with his family, who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Theresa (Jeff) Stanley of Birchwood, WI and Tamara Mueller of Eau Claire, WI; 5 grandchildren, Jordan, Tara, Trenton, Benjamin and Gavin; 2 brothers, Jerry (Sue) Peterson and Eldie (Velma) Peterson; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; brother, Ivan Peterson; sister, Joyce (Stanley "Bud") Vold; 2 sisters-in-law, Carol Peterson and Sara Peterson. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Veteran's Home in Chippewa Falls, WI, Grace Willowbrook Assisted Living and the Amery Behavioral Medical Center for their kindness and loving care provided to Harry. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Spirit Lutheran Church (formerly Our Savior's Lutheran Church) 1310 Main Street, in Eau Claire, WI. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 305.
