HAROLD L. YNDESTAD, 90, Eau Claire, died Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home, Altoona. He was born May 29, 1911 to Peder and Sophia (Rosness) Yndestad in Eau Claire.\r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 1942 and served as a tank commander in the European Theater under General Patton. He was honorably discharged in November 1945.\r\nHarold married Hannah Knudtson in Eau Claire in 1948. She died in 1978. He married Millie V. Peterson on October 4, 1980 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He worked for many years as a tire builder at Uniroyal Tire Company until his retirement.\r\nHarold was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles Chippewa Valley Aerie #2213, and a member of the V.F.W. Post #305. He was a master fisherman! Harold loved to read and particularly enjoyed reading to his many grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially Green Bay Packer football.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Mildred; a stepson, Keith (Cora) Peterson of Umatilla, OR; two stepdaughters, Connie Peterson of Eau Claire and LaVon (Ralph) Fedie of Durand; a stepson-in-law, Frank Martin, White Bear Lake, MN; two sisters, Ann Merrick of Altoona and Norma Gaul of Chicago, IL; thirteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.\r\nHe was also preceded in death by an infant brother Donald; a sister, Dorothy LaPage Klohs; and a stepdaughter Lois Martin. \r\nFuneral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Washington. Friends may call one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
