Harriet M Hicks, age 86, of Eau Claire passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009.Harriet was born on October 31, 1922 in North Freedom, WI to Thomas and Phoebe Whaley. Harriet met the man of her life, Hobert Hicks in Superior while she was attending beautician's school. Hobert was drafted into the Army in World War II. While Hobert was home on leave they were married on January 25, 1943 in Superior, WI. While Hobert was in the Army, she moved to Ogden, UT and worked in an ammunitions plant for a couple years. After moving back to Superior from Ogden, Utah she continued her beautician work until 1958. They then moved to Eau Claire and she continued beautician work. She went to work at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Food Service and retired from there.She spent much time on her hobbies of Rosemalling, Hardanger, and woodcarving.Harriet is survived by two sons, Rod Hicks and Greg (Shannon) Hicks both of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Mark (Robin) Hicks, Matthew (Ann) Hicks, Becky Hicks, and Adam (Laura) Hicks all of Eau Claire; four great-grandchildren, Darnell Harvey, Maxwell Hicks, Hunter Hicks, and Harrison Hicks; one brother Edward Whaley of Jackson Lake, TX; one sister Gert Christianson of Stoughton, WI; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hobert; one brother, Dean Whaley; four sisters, Edith Iverson, Emerald Walding, Ione Moore, and Nola Whaley. The family would like to thank the staff of Care Partners Assisted Living, Lindeminn House for all the wonderful care given to Harriet.Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1310 Main Street, Eau Claire, WI. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Lenmark - - Gomsrud - Linn Funeral home in Eau Claire and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Eau Claire.Arrangements are by Lenmark - Gomsrud - Linn Funeral and Cremation Services, Eau Claire \r\n \r\n
