Harriet W. Lake, 103, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, April 05, 2007 at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was born on March 30, 1904, in the town of Washington the daughter of Fred and Villa (Ford) Wilke. \r\nShe attended Eau Claire Teachers College for two years and later attended UW-Madison where she graduated in 1925. On December 24, 1925, Harriet married Thomas Peters Lake in Evanston, IL. They lived in Chicago and Skokie, IL until 1943, and then moved to Alexandria, VA. While living in Chicago, Harriet was a member of the editorial department of Scott, Foresman&Co. textbook publishers for 15 years. Harriet and Thomas moved to Eau Claire in 1947 with their daughter, Linda. \r\nHarriet was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church, the Eau Claire Woman's Club, the Chippewa Valley Museum, and the UW-EC Alumni Association. \r\nSurvivors include her daughter, Linda Lake (Vaughn) Hales of Old Hickory, TN; a niece, and several nephews and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; and a brother, Ford Wilke.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Street United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 3, 2007, with Rev. Dr. E. Doyle Blanton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Mondovi. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family.\r\nMemorials are preferred to the Chippewa Valley Museum, 1204 Carson Park Dr., Eau Claire, WI 54703, or to the L.E.
