Harriet L. Olson-Johnson-Ward, 91, of Altoona, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Oakwood Villa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Altoona, WI. Harriet was born on February 20, 1921, in Hitterdahl, MN, a daughter of Christ and Bertha (Johnson) Haugen. Harriet was active in the VFW Auxillary Post 305 and a dedicated Cub Scout Den Mother. Over the years, she cared for numerous foster children. She enjoyed cake decorating and was famous for her wedding, confirmation and birthday cakes. She loved making "scrubbies" and many other craft items. Those left to honor her memory are her sons, Ronald (Susan) Ward of Mount Horeb and Earl (Beth) Ward of Merrillville, IN; seven grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle (Kristin), Sarah (Donnie), Jenni (Zach), Ashley (Kane), Jade (Joe), and Jessie (Mark); eleven great grandchildren, Madeline, Vienna, Connor, Chloe, Katie, Kylie, Kailey, Saphira, Mykala, Brayden and Aubrey; sisters, Eleanor (Les) Schneider, Beatrice Bakken and Esther (Don) Tang; sister-in-law, Margaret Haugen; and also by many nieces, nephews, foster children, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Adolph F. Johnson, Earl E. "Sag" Ward, Arnold K. Olson; two children, Daniel C. Ward and Susan M. Shoemaker; sister, Mildred Olson; brother Milo Haugen. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane in Eau Claire, with Pastor Omar Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., in Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
