Dr. Harry I. Egdahl, 107, who practiced dentistry in Eau Claire for over seventy years died on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at his home. Harry was born on April 4, 1895, the son of Ingebord and Ingebrit Egdahl and lived with his family in the Chippewa Bottoms through his high school years. He recalled vividly the many times he drove a horse-drawn carriage with his uncle, a local physician on his house calls.\r\nHarry graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1919 and moved to Eau Claire, where he remained for his entire career in general dentistry\r\nHe was a veteran of World War I serving in the U.S. Army. \r\nHarry was married to Cassandra Ball who died in 1958. \r\nHe retired from practice when he was 97 years old. He was president of the Northwest District Dental Society, regularly attended local and state dental society meetings, and was a member of the "Black" club of dentists who were skilled in the use of gold foil in dental practice.\r\nHarry was a member of Eau Claire Lodge #112 F& AM, Eau Claire Scottish Rite, Eau Claire Chapter #36 Royal Arch Masons, Eau Claire Commandery #8 Knights Templar, and a member of First Lutheran Church. He was an avid bridge player and often participated in local and regional bridge tournaments. He also enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin lakes and Lake of the Woods in Canada. \r\nHe is survived by his wife of 43 years, Babette Anderson Egdahl; son, Richard Egdahl of Boston, four grandchildren; Scott, David, Bruce, and Julie Egdahl Porter; four great-grandchildren Eric, Lauren, Brian and Allison; and two nephews, John and Lauren Egdahl.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2003 at First Lutheran Church Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church chapel.\r\nFamily request memorials be directed to Food For The Poor, Inc., 550 SW 12th Avenue, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442.
