Hazel M. Johnson, 95, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire. She was born in Colfax, on July 16, 1916, to Adam and Emily (Jump) Smith. Hazel married Raymond A. Johnson on March 14, 1936, at Lake Street Methodist Parsonage in Eau Claire. Hazel enjoyed being a Brownie Leader and 4-H Leader. She also participated in the Civil Air Patrol Program (Operation Skywatch), watching for enemy planes. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elk Mound for over 50 years and was actively involved in the Ruth Circle, hold the offices of secretary/treasurer and president. Hazel is survived by her daughter, Susan (Johnson) Corfits of Madison; two grandchildren, Sarah and Chad (Stacey); five great-grandchildren, Mariah, Paige, Meadow, Kamrynn, and Caeden; one brother, Paul (Frances) Smith; one sister-in-law, Gladys Myers; and other nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Orvil Smith; and two sisters, Adeline and Nettie Smith. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elk Mound with Pastor Margaret DeMaris officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Elk Mound. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, and one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday.
