Hazel L. Steen, 85, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at her residence.\r\nHazel was born on September 28, 1925, a daughter of Earl and Blanche (Richardson) Hutter.\r\nHazel married Erwin Steen and together they raised seven children. They later divorced.\r\nHazel worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital and Clairemont Nursing Home. Hazel was an avid flower gardener and bird lover. She loved to crochet and quilt, which she donated to the children in the hospitals.\r\nHazel is survived by her seven children, Ronald (Sandra) Steen, Janet (Ronald "Butch") Hase,Beverly (Patrick) Bartholomew, Karen Price, John (Cheryl) Steen, Joseph Steen and Charles Steen; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Hutter.\r\nHazel was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Henry, Glenn, Raymond, Chuck and Lyle; three sisters, Iola, Ruth and Rheta.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Amy Chapel, E 9882 370th Ave, Eau Claire, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.\r\nThe family requests Memorials be made to the Sacred Heart Hospital Volunteer Department.
