HELEN G. BRENDEN, 89, of 610 Gray St., died Friday, April 11, 1997 at Luther Hospital. She was born July 12, 1907 in the Town of Spring Brook, Dunn County to John and Gertrude (Berg) Solem. Helen grew up in the Spring Brook area, attending Fosbroke school and later graduated from Hunt Business College in Eau Claire. She married Odin L. Brenden on November 5, 1927 at Spring Brook Lutheran Church. She worked many years as a laboratory technician, retiring from the Eau Claire City/County Health Dept. in 1969. Helen was a member of United Commercial Travelers, and Grace Lutheran Church participating in Circle, Bible Study and the Friendship Club.\r\nSurvivors include two sons, Marlyn (Barbara) and Daryl (Elizabeth) both of Eau Claire; two daughters, Joyce (Ken) Snede of Lake Havasu City,AZ, and Judith (Daryl) Kuyper of Northfield,MN; 10 grandchildren, Kristi Henry, Marla Garfield, James Snede, Michael Brenden, Jeffrey Kuyper, Elizabeth Radtke, Elizabeth Schultz, Melissa Brenden, John Kuyper and Benjamin Brenden; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Schaaf of Eagan,MN and Alice (Fred) Kersten of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Odin in 1982, and a brother, Julius Solem.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Barbara A. Koch officiating. Burial will be in Spring Brook Cemetery, Dunn County. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.\r\nThe Family requests memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Foundation.
