Obituary

Helen A. Dean, 78, of 2106 N. Clairemont Avenue died Friday, April 5, 1996 at her home. She was born March 6, 1918 in Colfax, Wisconsin to Admiral and Mary (Hintz) Lewis. She lived and was educated in the communities of Knapp, Menomonie, and Colfax, graduating from Colfax High School. Helen married William T. Dean and they farmed near Sand Creek. They later lived in Milwaukee until moving to Eau Claire. Helen built and was owner and operator of the Sea Horse Inn Supper Club for over thirty years. \r\nSurvivors include a daughter, Gail (Richard) Halmstad of Eau Claire; two sons, Gary of Eau Claire and Ronald of Palm Desert, CA, ; a grandson, Zach Halmstad of Eau Claire; a brother, William A. (Bonnie) Lewis of Chippewa Falls; two aunts, Alice Quilling and Edith Harshman both of Menomonie; many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William and parents.\r\nAt her restaurant, Helen's flower gardens provided her guests great pleasure while dinning. Her extraordinary work ethic and compassion for friends and family consumed her life.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon D. Thorp of Grace Lutheran Church Officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, near Colfax. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.\r\n
