Helen M. Griffin, 90, of Eau Claire died Saturday, January 20, 2007, at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on October, 23, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Selke) Richards. She graduated from La Crosse Logan High School in 1934.\r\nHelen married Franklin J. Griffin on March 10, 1943, in La Crescent, MN.\r\nShe was an avid bowler, having rolled a 300 several times, and participated in the National Bowling Tournament in Las Vegas in 1973. She enjoyed doing embroidery work, solving crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. \r\nShe was a loyal supporter of the U.S. Olympics teams, and a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary in La Crosse.\r\nHelen was a loving grandmother who enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.\r\nShe is survived by two sons, Terence "Terry" (Mary Jane) Griffin and Ralph Griffin: her daughter, Vicki (Rick) Semingson all of Eau Claire; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister, Evelyn (Harold) Lunke of La Crosse; brother, Edward Richards of Montello; a sister-in-law, Ruth Richards of La Crosse; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin in 1975; a son, Mark; a daughter, Dorine Swennes; grandson, Paul Swennes; granddaughter, Sheryl Ann Griffin; two sisters, Minerva McCoy and Irene Norcross; and two brothers, Frank and Robert Richards.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.\r\n
