Helen M. Hanson, 96, of Eau Claire, died Monday, July 5, 2004 at Orchard Hills Assisted Living in Eau Claire. She was born in the town of Naples, Buffalo County, Wisconsin on August 26, 1907, the daughter of James Albert and May (Biesecker) Cleasby. \r\nShe attended Hilliard school in town of Naples and graduated from Mondovi High School with the class of 1925. She attended and graduated from Wisconsin State Teachers College, Eau Claire in 1928.\r\nHelen married Lawrence S. Hanson on June 16, 1928 in Winona, MN. They moved to Eau Claire in 1940.\r\nShe was employed at U.S. Rubber during Ordnance, Western Electric, and then as credit manager at Montgomery Ward until her retirement in 1970.\r\nHelen enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting and Norwegian hardanger.\r\nSurvivors include her daughter, Ila Lue (Duane) Books of Eau Claire; two granddaughters, Kathy (Loyd) Shiffer of Roanoke, VA and Janet (Larry) McDonell of Colorado Springs, CO; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; three brothers, Minor (in infancy), Berval and Elwood Cleasby; three sisters, Murceil (in infancy), Verta Anderson and Fern Knesley.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2004, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
