Helen M. Long, 86, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Dove Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Eau Claire. She was born on April 21, 1920, in Eau Claire to Frank and Anna (Berg) Randall. \r\nHelen was an honor student at Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1937. The day following her graduation she began a career as a secretary, working many years for L.G. Arnold Company. \r\nHelen married Charles Long at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on April 17, 1948.\r\nShe was a secretary at Grace Lutheran Church from 1965 through 1975 and at Frank Carr construction for a short time. Helen was the secretary at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home from 1976 until her retirement in 1989.\r\nShe was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, involved in many activities, including church choir and various bible studies, and she volunteered for Meals on Wheels.\r\nHelen is survived by her husband, Charles; three sons, Richard (Geraldine) of Eau Claire, Mark (Julie) of Missoula, MT, and Bruce (Cheryl) of Rochester, MN; four grandsons, Randy and Adam Long of Missoula, MT, Drew Long of Chatsworth, CA and Chad Long of Rochester, MN; brother-in-law, Thomas Newsome of St. Paul, MN; and nieces and nephews including her nephew, James Newsome of St. Paul, MN.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; infant twins; and her sister, Lois Newsome.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. \r\nThe family requests memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W.
