Helen M. Sandvig, 81, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at the Harbor House in Eau Claire. She was born on November 9, 1920 in Eau Claire the daughter of George and Hazel (Cheney) Curry. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1938.\r\nHelen married Vernon Sandvig in Eau Claire on October 3, 1964.\r\nShe was employed as secretary for the Chief of Police in Eau Claire for 32 years.\r\nShe was a member of Luther Hospital Auxiliary; a long time member of the School Safety Patrol and supported the Salvation Army and Warm The Children. She was treasurer at First Church of Christ Science for many years. \r\nSurvivors include an aunt, Irma Curry and sister-in-law, Ethel Sandvig both of Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews including niece, Patsy (Kevin) Becker and her daughter, Jennifer of Beecher, IL and nephew, Rev. Patrick (Linda) Curry of Ocala, Fl; a cousin, Hugh (Bunny) Curry and their daughter, Jenny of Eau Claire; her lifelong friend, Hazel Nelson of Eau Claire; many family and friends; and her cat, "Bengi".\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; her parents; brother, Jack Curry; and sister-in-law Betty Curry.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2002 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Reader, Barbara Horton. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and an hour prior to services on Friday.
