Helen Levina Scritsmier, age 93, a resident of the Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at St. Joseph`s Hospital in Chippewa Falls with her family by her side. Helen was born to Paul and Hilda (Market) Swetlik on September 29, 1918, in Berthold, North Dakota. At the age of five, her family moved to Eau Claire where she was raised and graduated from Eau Claire Sr. High School with the Class of 1936. Helen worked at Uniroyal, Samuelson`s Department Store and Luther Hospital. Helen married Perry L. Scritsmier on April 15, 1939, in Eau Claire. Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Elk Mound. She was a charter member of the Elk Creek Lake Stitch and Chatter Club and remained a member for 50 years. Helen was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking care of her flowers. She especially loved taking care of her pets. She also volunteered a lot of her time at the Dunn County Health Care Center for many years. Helen is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Daryl) "Cork" Spagnoletti of Menomonie, and Carol Schwebach of Plymouth, MN; two sons, David (Sandra) Scritsmier of Waukesha, WI, and Ronald Scritsmier of Melbourne, FL; seven grandchildren, Timothy (Diane Schamens) Spagnoletti, of Eau Claire, Tony (Allison) Spagnoletti, of State Road, NC, Linda (Timothy) Stroth of Port St. Lucie, FL, Deanna (Patrick Holm) Schwebach of Buffalo, MN, David Paul (Christine) Scritsmier of Menomonee Falls, WI, Suzanne Scritsmier of Waukesha, WI, and Michael Scritsmier of Rapid City, SD; ten great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jenna, Madison and Mallory Spagnoletti, Jacob and Sarah Stroth, Caitlyn Holm, Jacob, Sofia and Michael Scritsmier; sister, Mildred Legge of Eau Claire; nieces, Marlene (LeRoy) Erickson, Joan (Marvin) Johnson and Susan (Larry) Market; and nephews, Kenneth (Jennifer) Luer and William Luer. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Perry in 1990; brother, William Swetlik (MIA - WWII); and one sister, Dorothy Luer. Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home West Chapel, 1405 North Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire with the visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen will be officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, memorials may are preferred to United Methodist Women of Trinity United Methodist Church, 105 S. Holly Ave., Elk Mound WI 54739 or to Dunn County Humane Society, 302 Brickyard Road, Menomonie WI, 54751. The family would like to thank Orchard Hills of Eau Claire, Rutledge Home, and St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls for all their wonderful care given to mom.
